Brittany Glassey - Bunka Gakuen University

A lecture about using digital tools in fashion research, for their Global Fashion Concentration MA program.

Recently I was invited to Bunka Gakuen University to host a lecture about using digital tools in fashion research, for their Global Fashion Concentration MA program. It is my second year to be invited back and I am honored to have my interests in fashion and technology continue to make an impact for new students. This year the university also purchased several Meta Quest 3 headsets which will be available for student use, I was delighted to be one of the first to try them out!

For the practical session of the lecture, students were able to try two VR applications. One was the FIC Virtual Showroom by Roz McNulty and Ian Lochhead, PhD, where users could get an up-close and immersive experience to view virtual garments, with interactable features. The other program was Gravity Sketch, to design 3D garments in virtual reality. I have shared my thoughts about how VR 3D modelling tools can be used for fashion design on my website, which includes some examples: https://lnkd.in/g5mnq57B
